Daitachi Moveable Wall Case Study: Flexibility Meets Poetic Oriental Aesthetics

At WU Modern Chao Cuisine, a high-end dining space in Shenzhen, AD Architecture set out to reinterpret traditional Chao culture through a contemporary lens. Drawing inspiration from “poetic Orientalism,” muted tones, and natural textures to craft an immersive, tranquil environment with a sense of ceremony.

To enhance both spatial flexibility and privacy—without compromising the elegance of the design—Daitachi provided a series of customized moveable partition wall systems.

Acoustic Operable Walls

Daitachi installed acoustic operable walls that echo the fluid geometry of the interior space, solving the challenge of partitioning irregular layouts while preserving spatial flow. These partitions can be reconfigured at any time, enabling a seamless transition between intimate private rooms and an open dining hall. This adaptability supports a range of dining experiences while optimizing operational efficiency.

Ceiling-Suspended Partition System

The moveable partition wall system is ceiling-suspended, with its track discreetly integrated into the ceiling cavity. When retracted, the walls are stacked to the side, allowing the interior to maintain a pure and minimalist aesthetic. To align with the project's subdued, sophisticated palette, the wall panels are finished in matte warm grey, complementing the natural wood veneers, gold elements, stone textures, and carefully curated lighting to create a serene, culturally enriched dining atmosphere.

Realizing the Design Vision

The Daitachi moveable wall system played a key role in realizing AD Architecture’s design vision. Its flexible and concealed nature allowed the architects to explore the concept of “divided yet connected” space, reinforcing the poetic narrative woven into the restaurant’s spatial experience. Guests are invited into a dining journey where traditional culture meets modern elegance—an atmosphere made possible through thoughtful spatial planning and responsive partitioning solutions.

Through this collaboration, Daitachi once again demonstrated its ability to elevate high-end commercial interiors by merging technical performance with design sensitivity—empowering architecture, and adding value to every experience.
